Bunker Transformation Project Begins This Fall
A better experience starts here.
Over the years, we’ve heard the feedback – and we agree: our bunkers have been the most challenging part of the Thundering Waters experience.
Originally designed as dramatic pot bunkers with deep faces and sharp edges, these hazards were ambitious in scale but have become our biggest liability – both for maintenance and for overall course satisfaction. With over 100 bunkers on the course and limited resources to maintain them at a high level, they’ve simply become unsustainable.
That’s why we’re proud to launch our Bunker Transformation Project -a multi-year plan to modernize and improve our bunkers with long-term sustainability and player experience in mind.
Beginning this September, select bunkers will be:
- Hydroseeded or sodded over to create playable grass bunkers
- Recontoured to soften faces and improve accessibility
- Cleaned and reshaped to improve aesthetics and consistency
- Fresh sand will be added to all in-play bunkers and drainage issues repaired
This is a phased approach, but a meaningful one – and it marks an important step toward ensuring Thundering Waters continues to evolve, improve, and deliver a quality experience for all who play here.
